Welcome New Undergraduates
Caltech is committed to maintaining a diverse academic community, and welcoming individuals with a broad spectrum of talents and experiences to its campus and programs. Students with disabilities, actively participating in all aspects of the Caltech experience, are an essential part of that diversity.
Incoming students with disabilities who are interested in exploring academic or housing accommodations should visit the main page of CASS website (under the Accommodation Process section). Here you can find applications and instructions for the 2022-23 academic year.
Students may meet with Marc Lazar, Accessibility Services Specialist, if you have questions about accommodations, the CASS registration process, or accessibility concerns. Please email cass@caltech.edu to schedule an appointment, or for additional information and resources.
If you need accommodations for the upcoming year, please take note of the following deadlines by which you should register with CASS and submit supporting documentation to ensure timely consideration of your accommodation requests:
Deadlines
Class of 2027
- For placement exam accommodations: May 31, 2023
- Housing accommodations: June 15, 2023
- Fall Term academic accommodations: Sept 1, 2023
Note: Students may register for accommodations at any time while they are at Caltech, but completed registration requests may take up to 30 days to process, so we strongly recommend that incoming students register with CASS as soon as possible.
Differences between high school and college
If you have received disability-related accommodations and services in high school, please be aware that you may not be eligible for the exact same services at Caltech or other universities as you once had, due to the different laws and expectations that apply to higher education.
During your CASS intake appointment, we will discuss your past accommodations as we work together to determine your current reasonable accommodations at Caltech.
